The short answer: children learn to pray best by doing it, little by little, long before it becomes an obligation. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged parents to teach their children to pray from around the age of seven, so that by the time they are older, prayer is already a familiar habit rather than a sudden new rule.
Our teachers teach salah gently, one step at a time, with lots of practice and no pressure.

Salah is taught in small parts that build on each other:

Every child is different, but this is a gentle, realistic order:
| Age | Focus | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| 4–6 | Copying the movements, saying Allahu Akbar, learning Al-Fatiha and a short surah | Enjoys praying beside a parent |
| 7–9 | Wudu, the full order of the prayer, the words for each position, the number of rak'ahs | Can pray a full salah on their own |
| 10–12 | Praying regularly, accuracy of recitation, understanding the meaning of what they say | Prays the daily prayers with understanding |
| 13+ | Concentration (khushu), the sunnah prayers, and the wider rules of salah | Prayer is their own habit |
This is a guide, not a rule — the teacher follows your child's pace.

Muslims around the world pray in the same basic way, but there are small differences between the schools of thought — for example in where the hands are placed, some words recited, or how the sitting is done. All of these are well established.
Our teachers do not take sides. Tell us which school your family follows, and the teacher will teach your child to pray the way they see you pray at home.

Salah is part of our Islamic Studies teaching, so it can run alongside your child's Quran reading in the same weekly classes, or as a focused course of its own. The Quran reading itself helps too — the better your child reads, the more accurately they recite in prayer.
Classes are live, one-to-one and 30 minutes, with a male or female teacher. Parents can watch any class, and every class is checked by a female supervisor.

Children learn salah most from seeing it. A few simple habits make a big difference between classes:

Book 3 free one-to-one classes and the teacher will see what your child already knows and where to begin. No card is needed.
