Choosing how your child learns

Home Quran Tutor or Online Quran Classes?

Both give your child one-to-one attention. The differences are in who you can choose from, what it costs, how easy it is to keep going — and what suits your child.

What a home tutor does well

Illustration of male and female Quran teachers

A good teacher in the room is hard to beat for some children. Very young children and children who struggle to focus on a screen can do better with someone sitting beside them, pointing at the page. A local tutor may also know your community, and some families simply prefer the warmth of a teacher at the kitchen table.

  • In-person attention, useful for very young or easily distracted children
  • No screen time
  • A teacher who may be part of your local community

Where online one-to-one is stronger

The biggest difference is choice. With a home tutor you are limited to whoever lives close enough and is free at your time. Online, you can choose a qualified male or female teacher regardless of where you live — and change teacher if the fit is not right.

Online is also easier to keep going. There is no travel, no cancelled lesson because of traffic or weather, and classes can run at any time of day — before school, after school or at the weekend. Our classes run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so a time that suits your family is almost always available.

  • Choose from qualified male and female teachers, not just who is nearby
  • Change teacher at any time, free
  • No travel and fewer cancelled lessons
  • Any time of day, in your own time zone
  • Every class supervised for teaching quality, and you can watch any lesson

See how your child gets on — the first 3 classes are free.

Cost

An open Quran with Arabic script

Home tutors in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia usually charge by the hour, and the price reflects their travel time. Online classes avoid that, which is why they usually cost much less per lesson. Our plans start at $39 a month for 8 one-to-one classes, with a 10% discount for siblings — compare that with what local tutors near you charge for the same number of lessons.

Safety and trust

With either option, check the teacher properly. With a home tutor, you are inviting someone into your home; with online classes, make sure you can see and hear every lesson. In our classes you can sit in on any lesson without telling us first, and every class is supervised.

Which suits which family

A few patterns worth considering:

  • Very young children who cannot sit at a screen may start better in person
  • If you want a female teacher and none is available locally, online solves it
  • Busy families with several children usually find online easier to sustain
  • If a good local tutor is already working well, there may be no reason to change

Try online before you decide

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is an online Quran teacher as good as a home tutor?
For most children over about 5, yes — the lesson is still one-to-one and the teacher hears every word. The bigger factor is the teacher's quality, and online gives you a much wider choice.
What if my child gets distracted on a screen?
Lessons are short (30 minutes) and keep the child reading aloud, which helps. The free classes are the best test — you will see within a lesson or two.
Can I choose a female teacher?
Yes. You choose a male or female teacher when you book, and the fee is the same either way.
What do your classes cost?
Plans start at $39 a month (£30, €36) for 8 one-to-one classes, with no registration fee and all materials included. Siblings get a 10% family discount from the second child, and the first 3 classes are free.
