About this course

The Arabic Language Course teaches students to read, understand, and use Arabic, with a syllabus that serves two goals at once: understanding the Quran and communicating in Modern Standard Arabic. Lessons are one-on-one and blend vocabulary building, essential grammar (nahw) and word morphology (sarf), and guided conversation practice from the very first month.

The course prioritises the words that matter most. A relatively small set of roots accounts for a large share of the Quran's vocabulary, so students learn high-frequency words first and start recognising them in verses within weeks. Grammar is introduced only as needed to unlock meaning, with each concept practised immediately on real Quranic and everyday sentences rather than memorised as abstract tables.

By the later levels, students read short unvowelled texts, hold structured conversations on familiar topics, and translate simple Quranic passages with dictionary support. The course pairs naturally with our Tafseer program: one gives you the language, the other gives you the depth.

Course FAQs

Will I learn Quranic Arabic or spoken Arabic in this course?

Both, in a deliberate balance. The grammar and core vocabulary of Quranic and Modern Standard Arabic overlap heavily, so the course teaches that shared foundation, applies it to Quranic verses for understanding, and uses Modern Standard Arabic for conversation practice. Regional dialects are not the focus.

How long before I can understand Quran verses in Arabic?

Most students begin recognising words and simple structures in familiar verses within two to three months. Meaningful comprehension of short surahs typically arrives by the end of Level 2, around six to nine months in, provided vocabulary review happens between classes.

Do I need to read Arabic script before starting?

Yes, basic reading ability is required, since lessons use Arabic text from day one. If you cannot yet read the script, our Noorani Qaida course covers it in a few months, and many students complete the Qaida first and then move straight into Arabic.

Is grammar taught through memorising tables?

No, grammar is taught through usage first. Each rule is introduced when a real sentence needs it, practised on Quranic and everyday examples, and only then summarised in a reference table. Students remember rules because they have used them, not because they chanted them.
