About the course

What Learn Namaz covers

A boy in a kufi making dua on a prayer mat while his Islamic Studies teacher smiles on a laptop

Children often copy their parents in prayer without knowing what to say or why. In this course a private teacher takes your child through Namaz one step at a time: first wudu, then each position, then the words of each position, with their meaning in simple English or Urdu.

The teacher watches on camera. Your child stands, bows and prostrates in the lesson, and the teacher corrects hand position, posture and the order of each step, then listens to every recitation word by word. Nothing is left to guesswork.

By the end your child prays all five daily prayers on their own, knows how many rak'ahs each one has, and understands what they are saying. Families choose a male or female teacher, and teachers follow the family's school of thought for the details of prayer.

FAQ

Learn Namaz: common questions

What age should my child learn Namaz?
Children are encouraged to start praying at seven, and many start learning the steps from five. The course is paced to the child's age, so younger children learn one small step at a time.
Which way of praying do you teach?
Teachers follow your family's school of thought (for example Hanafi) for details such as hand position, so what your child learns matches how the family prays at home.
How long does it take to learn Namaz?
Most children pray on their own within two to three months with two or three short classes a week. Older children and adults are often faster.
Can my child learn Namaz and Quran reading together?
Yes. Many families add Namaz to their child's Quran lessons, or follow it with our wider Islamic Studies course once the child prays confidently.
