The arithmetic of a group class
Take an hour-long class with fifteen children. Ten minutes go on arriving, settling and closing. Of the fifty that remain, each child's share of individual reading time is a little over three minutes — and in practice the confident readers take more and the quiet ones take less.
A 30-minute one-to-one class is not half of that hour. It is roughly ten times the individual reading time, every single week. That is the entire argument, and it is why children who move from a weekend class to one-to-one usually jump a stage within a couple of months.
Correction happens on the day, not the year after
The real cost of a group is not slow progress; it is uncorrected habits. A wrong articulation point that nobody hears gets practised a few hundred times before anyone notices. Undoing it later takes far longer than fixing it the first week.
One-to-one, the teacher is listening to one voice. A ص read as a س is stopped mid-word. It is the least glamorous benefit of private tuition and by far the most valuable.

It is worth being straight about this. One-to-one does not create motivation, it does not replace practice between lessons, and it does not suit every child — a few genuinely do better with the social energy of a group, especially older children who already read well.
What it reliably helps is the shy child, the child who is behind, the child who has stalled, and the adult who is embarrassed to read in front of anybody. If that is not your situation, a good local group class may be the better and cheaper answer, and we would rather say so than sell you something.

Frequently asked questions
Is one-to-one worth the extra cost over a group?
For a beginner, a shy child or an adult, almost always — the individual reading time is roughly ten times higher. For a confident older child who already reads fluently and just needs practice, a group can be perfectly adequate and cheaper.
Can two siblings share one one-to-one class?
We do not recommend it, because it halves the reading time and one child always ends up waiting. Separate back-to-back classes with a family discount usually costs less than parents expect.
Is 30 minutes long enough?
For one-to-one, yes — it is more concentrated attention than most children get in an hour of group teaching, and it matches their attention span. Families wanting faster progress add classes per week rather than length.
How is this different from a private tutor I find myself?
Mainly in what happens when something goes wrong. Classes here are supervised, there is a team to reach rather than one person, and a teacher can be replaced without you having to start your search again.
