Online Quran Classes for Girls: Choosing a Female Teacher and a Class You Can Trust

The short answer: for a girl learning the Quran online, look for a live one-to-one class with a qualified female teacher who stays the same every lesson, a parent's right to watch any class without notice, and someone checking the classes for quality. Ask about each of these before you book, then use the free trial to see them in action.

Why many families choose a female teacher

Families choose a female teacher for their daughters for many reasons: religious preference, the comfort of a girl who is shy with men, or simply because the daughter asked. Older girls often feel freer to ask questions about topics that matter at their age. Some mothers learn alongside their daughters, and want a female teacher for themselves too.

There is no single right answer, and a male teacher is a good fit for many families. Our guide on choosing a male or female Quran teacher walks through the decision. What matters is that you get the choice — and that it does not cost more.

What to ask any academy

  • Is the female teacher guaranteed for every lesson, or only the trial? Some academies switch teachers after the trial. Ask for the teacher's name.
  • What are her qualifications? Look for a Hafiza, an Aalima, an ijazah, or a degree in Islamic Studies — and experience teaching children.
  • Can I watch any class, at any time? You should not need to give notice or ask permission.
  • Who checks the classes? A good academy has someone reviewing lessons for teaching quality and conduct.
  • Is it one-to-one? In a one-to-one class the teacher hears every word your daughter reads, and you know exactly who is in the room.
  • Does a female teacher cost more? It should not.
  • What is the camera policy? Ask whether video is required for the student, and whether you can choose audio-only for an older girl if your family prefers.

What good safeguarding looks like

Whoever teaches your daughter, the basics are the same. Lessons happen on a platform you control, such as Zoom, Google Meet or Skype on a family device. Teachers do not message children privately; contact goes through parents. You can see or join any lesson. And there is someone at the academy you can raise a concern with who will act on it.

Our checklist are online Quran classes safe for children? covers this in more detail, and our child safety page sets out how we run classes.

How we teach girls at Online Quran Lessons

An open Quran with Arabic script
  • Female teachers, same fee. You choose a male or female teacher at the same price, and you can change teacher at any time, free.
  • Qualified, named teachers. Our female teachers include Rahat, a Hafiza and Aalima with a BSc in Islamic Studies from the University of the Punjab, and Sadia, a Hafiza and Aalima with an MPhil in Islamic Studies from the University of the Punjab.
  • Checked before hiring. Every teacher's ID and certificates are checked, and they teach a demo class before they are hired.
  • A female supervisor in every class. A female supervisor checks every class for teaching quality.
  • Parents can watch any lesson. Join at any time during the lesson, with no notice needed.
  • One-to-one only. Never a group class.

Using the free trial well

  • Sit beside your daughter for the first class, or at least for the start of it.
  • Watch how the teacher corrects mistakes: patiently and specifically, or quickly and vaguely?
  • Notice whether your daughter talks more by the end of the class than at the start.
  • Afterwards, ask her how she felt. A comfortable child learns faster than a nervous one.
