Prayers are one of the five pillars of Islam. There are five obligatory prayers for muslims and names of these prayers are fajr, zuhr,Asr,maghrib and Isha. Our topic is about Zuhr namaz so lets talk about it. Zuhr which is also say as noon prayer is the second of the five daily prayers and its comes after midday when the sun is at the highest point in the sky. Its time ends before the time of the Asr prayer starts.

Zuhr namaz consists of four rakat of sunnat , four rakat of farz , two rakat of sunnat and two rakat of nafil however nafil is non obligatory. On friday zuhr namaz is considered as jumma prayer and its rakat are reduce to two rakat of farz. Because two missed rakaats are replaced by two Khutbahs (sermons) which is delivered by a molvi to educate and share the teachings of islam and discussions about muslims political issues.

While traveling, there are certain conditions to perform namaz as Zuhr namaz can be reduced or qasr option is also available. The commandment of the qasr or shortening of prayer is from the following aayah of the Glorious Quran:

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisa verse 101: When you go on a journey, there is no harm, if you shorten your salaat, (especially) when you fear that the disbelievers might harass you, for the disbelievers are openly bent upon enmity against you.

Zuhr Prayer

There are also some flexibilities for a patient to perform namaz:

A hadith-i sharif says, “If a sick person is unable to perform salat standing, he should perform it sitting. If he is unable to perform it sitting, he should perform it lying on his back.” The 191st verse of Surat Al-i Imran says (what means): “They remember [make dhikr] Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides.” What is meant by the word dhikr in this verse is salat. It means, “One must perform salat standing if one is able. If one is unable to perform salat standing, then one must perform it sitting. And if one is unable to perform it sitting, then one must perform it lying by gestures [ishaarah].” (Bahr-ur-Raiq)
