Trust in Allah is the best form of worship and the sincerest form of affiliation to God. Realizing that Allah is the biggest well-wisher of each and every person and that everything that happens in this universe is according to His will is also part of the Muslim faith. This trust that a person puts in Allah gives him the strength and will to face every challenge that life throws at him and extends his belief in the Almighty. Putting ones confidence in Allah is also praised by the Almighty Himself at various occasions, in the Holy Quran. Allah says in the Holy Quran:

AND IN ALLAH LET THE BELIEVERS PUT THEIR TRUST.

[QURAN 5:11] The belief that everything that happens is according to the will of Allah and that Allah is aware of everything that is happening in the Universe is a satisfaction in itself as it allows us to be patient and encourages us to pray to Allah which in turn strengthens our faith in Allah Almighty. It is said in the Holy Quran that:

AND WILL PROVIDE FOR HIM FROM WHERE HE DOES NOT EXPECT. AND WHOEVER PLACES HIS TRUST IN ALLAH, SUFFICIENT IS HE FOR HIM, FOR ALLAH WILL SURELY ACCOMPLISH HIS PURPOSE: FOR VERILY, ALLAH HAS APPOINTED FOR ALL THINGS A DUE PROPORTION.

[QURAN 65:3] Trust in Allah is a way of achieving closeness to Allah in a way that nothing else can provide because it is the foundation of the Muslim belief system. It produces the urge in a man to establish a communication with Allah and seek His closeness always which is the ultimate goal of man’s existence.

LEVELS OF TRUST IN ALLAH:

1. TAUHEED:

If we divide the trust in Allah into various levels then the first and the foremost level would be Tauheed. Believing in the oneness of Allah is the foundation of the Muslim belief system. Tauheed encourages a man to believe in the Supremacy of Allah and promotes a person’s belief in His strength and power. This belief when strengthened leads to the building of trust of man on Allah.

2. PUTTING IN ONES FULL EFFORTS:

After a person has established the concept of Tauheed and his dependence on Allah in all matters, it is extremely important that he also understands the importance of his own efforts. Allah says in the Holy Quran that:

ALLAH WILL NOT CHANGE THE CONDITION OF A PEOPLE UNTIL THEY CHANGE WHAT IS IN THEMSELVES

[QURAN 13:11] In the above verse it has been made clear that although everything that happens is according to His will, he appreciates our efforts and rewards our hard-work. Once a person has firm belief in this he has established trust in Allah and now even if he fails it only strengthens his belief in Allah’s wisdom.

3. RELYING ON HIM ALONE:

Considering Allah to be your sole helper in all situations firms a person’s belief in Allah further. When a person puts all his trust in Allah alone, Allah doesn’t disappoint him and when he is blessed with Allah’s reward it strengthens his belief in Allah’s power and wisdom. If a person depends on someone other than Allah it is a sign that he may claim to be a believer but his faith is still weak.

4. PURE OF ALL DOUBTS:

The ultimate level of trust is when a person depends on Allah voluntarily, without having anything force him. It is a common practice among people that we advise each other to trust Allah as it is part of our faith. Therefore a person feels obliged to convince himself that he trusts Allah, even if he has doubts in his heart, he forces himself to believe in Him. The highest level of trust thus requires a person to trust the Almighty with all his heart without anyone or anything forcing him to do so.

BENEFITS OF TRUSTING ALLAH:

The benefits of trusting Allah are too great to be described by us but here we have made a small effort to summarize the gains:

1.  CONTENTMENT:

When a person trusts Allah, no situation in the world can put him in a state of panic. He is always happy and satisfied as he believes in the wisdom of Allah and that no power in the world can harm him if Allah is by his side. His faith helps him get through all the tough times with the belief that Allah is his guardian and everything that is happening is according to the will of Allah.

2. SUCCESS IN THIS WORLD AND THE HEREAFTER:

A person who trusts Allah is bound to be successful in this world and the Hereafter. The faith that Allah is the Supreme Being, everything in this world will happen according to His will and that Allah is the only Helper of His Creation establishes a connection of love and affection between Allah and man. Allah loves a person who puts in all his efforts but leaves the result to Him. His trust and faith is greatly admired by Allah and He always helps such a person.

3. POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND GOOD CHARACTER:

Entrusting Allah with decisions and matter of your life not only offers a reward from Allah but it also empowers man with a positive attitude towards life. A person who trusts Allah faces all challenges and hurdles with a positive attitude that Allah will help him through his tough times. This positive attitude leaves a healthy impact on his character as well, as his confidence in Allah does not let him be frustrated and hopeless.

WAYS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR TRUST IN ALLAH:

There are many ways to strengthen our trust in Allah but the most effective ones are listed below:

1. ESTABLISH A RELATIONSHIP WITH QURAN:

Establishing a relationship with Quran is actually quite different from reading the Quran daily. When reading the Quran our main concern is mainly to just read because Allah commands us to read but it is equally important to understand the meaning of Quran, to get to know the message Allah has conveyed in the Quran and to form an affiliation with the Quran. Reciting and understanding Allah’s word, helps us to understand His authority thus encouraging us to place our trust in Him.

2. MAKE MASSIVE DUA:

“AND WHEN MY SERVANTS ASK YOU CONCERNING ME, THEN SURELY I AM VERY NEAR; I ANSWER THE PRAYER OF THE SUPPLIANT WHEN HE CALLS ON ME, SO THEY SHOULD ANSWER MY CALL AND BELIEVE IN ME THAT THEY MAY WALK IN THE RIGHT WAY.”

[QURAN 01 : 186] Dua allows a person’s desires to be fulfilled, and fulfilled desires encourage man to trust Allah therefore a person should always make massive dua in order to strengthen his trust in Allah.

3. LET GO OF THE OUTCOME

It is extremely important for a strong faith that one trusts Allah with all matters. Putting in all your efforts and leaving the result to Allah not only strengthens the trust in Allah but is also a source of His love and affection. Allah admires the person who works hard but leaves the results to Him. Such a person is also rewarded by Him in this world and the Hereafter.

4. THINK POSITIVE OF ALLAH

As humans we have a tendency to overthink problems and overthinking leads to lack of trust. Therefore it is extremely necessary that we understand the fact that there is no other being in this Universe who is a better well-wisher of us then Allah and that every decision He takes for us is in our best interest.

5. DON’T UNDER-ESTIMATE ALLAH

Allah is the Creator and the master-mind behind this Universe. It is part of our faith that we accept His Supremacy and understand His powers. He can work miracles and this not something that we just believe, but rather we have many events to support our claim. Therefore it is extremely important that we never underestimate Allah’s powers and authority.
