Islam is a complete code of life! This statement might be inconceivable to the non-believers that how can a religion be a complete code for life? According to Islam, every act of a person should be solely for the will of Allah and no such act should be committed which leads to Allah’s resentment towards us. As Allah says in the Holy Quran:
Say: ‘Truly, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the worlds. No partner has He: this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who submit to His Will.
HOW IS ISLAM A CODE FOR LIFE?
The prime focus of Islam is to guide its believers to a happy and successful life in this world and great reward in the Hereafter. This aspect of Islam is common to the other religions, but Islam is superior to them by the factor that it does not focus only on the religious traditions and obligations rather it also concentrates on observing righteousness in every aspect of life. It is said in the Holy Quran:
For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never (fail).

The prime reason behind Allah making Islam a complete code of life is that we do not find ourselves in a situation without guidance and we shape all our actions according to the will of Allah so that He may reward us with His blessings and mercy. The lines below give some examples of Islam being complete code of life by highlighting the instructions related to different walks of life.
1. HONESTY IN TRADING:
Islam is the religion that commends us to earn an honest living by being fair in all our dealings. It is said in the Holy Quran:
O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah, as witness to fair dealing, and let not hatred of others make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.
The Holy Prophet ﷺ also said:
The seller and the buyer have the right to keep or return goods as long as they have not parted or till they par; and if both the parties spoke the truth and described the defects and qualities (of the goods), then they would be blessed in their transaction, and if they told lies or hid something, then the blessings of their transaction would be lost.
Thus Islam has given us a set of rules to follow when doing trade and business and we must follow these rules to earn success and Allah’s blessings.
Apart from honesty in trading Islam also compels us to be fair especially when it comes to weighing and measuring of goods in business. It is said in the Holy Quran:
Give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even balance. That is the best (way) and best in result.
2. CONDEMNATION OF BRIBERY:
In all the societies of the World, Bribery is looked down upon by the people but this is mainly due to legal bindings. Islam on the other hand is the only religion of the world that has condemned Bribery on religious level to keep people away from this vice. Therefore for other societies of the world Bribery might be against the law but for Muslims it is against the religion. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran:
And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it (in bribery) to the rulers in order that (they might aid) you (to) consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know (it is unlawful).
3. TIMELY PAYMENT OF WAGES:
Islam commands us to be very careful in the rights of other humans. When we hire a labor, it is our religious obligation to pay their wages on time without any delays. The Holy Prophet ﷺ said:
Allah says: ‘I will be against three persons on the Day of Resurrection: One who makes covenant in My Name, but he proves treacherous; One who sells a free person (as a slave) and eats the price; and One who employs a laborer and gets the full work done by him but does not pay him his wages.
4. KINDNESS TOWARDS ALL:
Above all things that Islam preaches to its followers, kindness is the most emphasized virtue. Islam commands its followers to be kind to all mankind irrespective of their religion. Thus Islam preaches kindness to Muslims as well as non-Muslims. Unlike other religions Islam focuses on not only kindness to Humans but to animals as well. Other societies have imposed kindness to humans and animals using their laws while Islam bounds a Muslim to do so on religious grounds.
Allah has said in the Holy Quran:
O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should you treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the dower you have given them, except where they have been guilty of open lewdness. On the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity if you take a disliking to them it may be that you dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.
Forgiveness is a virtue of Almighty Allah. He forgives those who seek forgiveness and also expects his people to do the same. We can see numerus examples of forgiveness in the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ the biggest being when his forgiveness to the people of Makkah who made fun of his preaching and behaved cruelly towards Him, His family and His followers.
Allah Himself advises us to be kind in the Holy Quran:
Adopt forgiveness, instruct what is right and ignore the foolish.
Indeed Qayamah is approaching so pardon (those who do wrong) with most graceful pardon (without revenge)
It is also said by the Holy Prophet ﷺ:
No mercy will be shown to those who show no mercy, and no forgiveness will be given to those who cannot forgive others.
Injustice is the greatest of all vices as it leads to other evils such as corruption and immorality. The Holy Quran dictates justice in the following words:
O ye who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: For Allah can best protect both.
7. SPIRITUAL LIFE:
Muslims believe that everything that exists was created by Allah and the only way to thank Him for all the blessings is to worship Him. Islam is a complete guide on How to worship the Creator and be thankful for His blessings. It teaches us how to offer prayers, fast, perform Hajj and show our love to Allah. We can find a practical example of all this when we study the life of Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ, the Messenger of Allah.
8. FAMILY LIFE:
Family is a group of people bound together by blood, love and sacrifice. Islam teaches us the etiquettes of how to live in a family; how the children should behave with the parents, what are the rights of children towards their parents, what are the obligations of the spouses towards each other and rights of siblings towards each other etc.
In a nutshell there is no matter of life about which Islam has not spoken or given guidance. We can find a Quranic verse or a reference from the Life of The Holy Prophet ﷺ relative to every situation. Thus whenever we need guidance, we should consult these resources prior to going for any other guides.
